There are many diffcuclt uest or strong monster in WoW, it need many people to solve or fight together, So people need build up a groups.
Blizzard call dungeon as instance. Dungeon is a zone which have many strong monster, Blizzard provide instance of dungeon for every groups. That means, every groups have itself dungeon environment. Blizzard call instance as raid when there are more than 5 people in a groups.
WoW have many type of dungeon, and instance and raid may have many mode. From level 70, instance for 5 people have normal and heroic mode. From level 80, raid for 25 people have normal and diffcuclt mode.
At level 90, there are a new type of dungeons, WoW call it as event.
Event is like a simplify dungeon, groups don't need tank and healer in event.
here have a table to list the all instance of WoW, I igore the 5 people instance except level 60, because these instance are important for early players.

10 raid : the dungeon for 10 people group. 25 raid : the dungeon for 25 people group.
